It is a healthy business attitude to invite third parties in to your operation and to proactively ask them what they see. In personal and professional life we focus on certain things at certain times and the importance of an issue changes based on many things such as risk or opportunity, threats or even from a weakness being exposed, often these things are pointed out to us by friends and family. In work life it can be colleagues, customers or suppliers.

An External Audit is designed to observe, identify and report areas that are not working as described or are simply not delivering the results expected.

The biggest of benefits can only be realised if the right questions are asked, Therefore a comprehensive look at how things are supposed to be done is essential.

Once this has been established an investigation is launched in each area to verify that the tasks are being performed as documented, often we believe that to be the case but in reality deviation from formal instructions is very common.

A report is then drafted and a plan is made to react to the evidence found. The audit is a method to identify things that need to be or could be addressed, the real value is working against a plan. Working through plans achieves goals and creates improvements to how things are done, this creates more profit by operating more efficiently.
